Beauty for Every Skin Tone at Every Budget

This is not Tarte Cosmetics’ best week. With the upcoming Shape Tape Foundation, the sequel to the wildly popular Shape Tape concealer, social media is tearing them apart. After weeks of taunting and baiting, there were just 15 shades available, almost none of which were good for people of color. Instead, 12 versions of fair, light, medium, and tan are paired with three orange-leaning deep/dark tones. It should come as no surprise that the brand’s pledge to release 10 hues did not appease customers, who expressed their fury on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram and accused it of being tone deaf. Influencers in the beauty industry shared initial glimpses of Tarte’s PR kit, which included several concealers, new brushes, matte and hydrating formulations, and a new sponge, on social media, echoing their confused dismay.
